72 Hour Mega Savings Giveaway for a $30 Kroger Gift Card
Sunday, August 16, 2009 Hand-posted by Jennifer
72 HOUR KROGER MEGA SAVINGS GIVEAWAY
Enter to win a $30 Gift Card from General Mills & PepsiCo.
Deadline is Wednesday at 11:59pm ~ Eastern time!
If you felt like you just saw a Mega Event happen at Kroger a few weeks ago you did but, General Mills & PepsiCo teamed up to bring you some more savings in the store. They have provided MyBlogSpark with some gift cards for me & you to spend at Kroger to rake in the savings! Let’s see how we can do!
Currently Kroger (& their family of stores) are running a Mega Event for Buy 10, Get $5 off instantly.
Here are some participating brands included in the sale: AMP Energy, Aquafina, Betty Crocker Baking Mixes, Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks, Cascadian Farms Cereals and Bars, Cap'n Crunch, Cheerios, Cheetos, Chex Mix, Cinnamon Toast Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, Dole Juices and Juice Drinks, Fiber One, Fritos, Gatorade, Golden Grahams, Green Giant, Hamburger Helper, Life , Lipton Tea, Nature Valley, Old El Paso, Pepsi family of 2 Liters, Pillsbury, Progresso, Propel, Quaker Instant Oatmeal, Quaker Chewy Bars, Starbucks, Sobe Life Water, Totino's, Trix, Tropicana, Yoplait and MORE!
You can go HERE to see my coupon matchups for the advertised & unadvertised deals.
So, how based on looking at the coupon matchups, What would you buy?
That’s your challenge for this giveaway. You have to tell me & MyBlogSpark how you would stretch your win!
Wanna know how I’m going to stretch my win and feed my family? Let’s look at things like this:
Here are some great examples of different product combinations for breakfast, lunch, dinner or anytime that are at a great price point:
- Breakfast: Cheerios, Quaker Instant Oatmeal, Pillsbury Toaster Strudel, Tropicana Orange Juice and Yoplait
- Lunch: Nature Valley Granola Bars, Cheetos, Fritos, Progresso Soup, and Gatorade
- Anytime: Betty Crocker Baking Mixes, Tostito's Chips & Salsa, Totino's Hot Snacks, Pepsi 2 Liters
- Dinner: Hamburger Helper, Green Giant, Pillsbury, and Lipton Ready-To-Drink Tea
I’m challenging myself to work the deals with my coupons (ignoring my stockpile) and try to feed my family a variety of meals with my $30 gift card. Pretty easy challenge, don’t ya think?
I think I can do it, how ‘bout you? Update(8/18): I DID IT! I ONLY SPENT $30 for a week’s worth of food!
My total was $146 minus $109 savings/coupons. I used my $30 gift card from General Mills & PepsiCo to pay for my purchase and used $6 in cash to pay for the tax! Not to bad in my opinion! Right!? Plus, when I opened one of the fruit snacks we discovered we won a $5 GC in a BC Fruit Snack box!
Read more here about what I bought and see the picture of my trip at the bottom of this post!
So, I have one gift card to giveaway for $30 to any of the Kroger family of stores. You want one?

Based on Kroger's "Regular" shelf prices, I think I'd save about $200 using a $30 budget. I will break the fruit snacks up into multiple transactions to increase savings. My region has a slightly different coupon policy--sometimes that helps me and sometimes it hinders me.
Most of what I get at the Mega Sale will be snacks and cereals, so not a lot of "meal-makers". I'm still super excited though!
Thanks for the Giveaway opportunity!

What i would buy would be snacks for Zoey's class.

Typically I save about 70% shopping at Kroger, and with the mega sale I have no doubt I could easily do that. So I could get $100-$120 worth of groceries for $30.

Since this Mega Event is running until 9/2 I could do very well with $30 at Kroger. This week with the mega event sale and the Unilever sale (mid atlantic deal) I got $98.47 worth of groceries for only $29.94. So I got all most $100 worth of groceries for just under $30. So I know it can be done :)

I actually just did my biweekly grocery trip, so I'd use it to buy some extras for my family. At my store the knorr sides are still 10/$10. I have $.50 off coupons, so I'd get them for free. I would stock up on the Helper Meals. I noticed there is new Asian Helpers. I would buy a couple for my family to try. My store had the M&M ice cream cookies for $1.68. I have a $1.00 off coupon to use with that. I want to buy some cake mixes too. I plan on making my son's bday cake and would love to have them around in case I mess up.

Well, I just went yesterday to Kroger and spent $13.33 for $56.20 worth of groceries, while this was an exceptional shopping trip for me, I believe I could get at a minimum of $100 of groceries for $30. Thanks for the chance to win!

Sorry but I hate using coupons. I think the amount of time it takes to sort through all the coupons doesn't justify the few dollars you save.
August 18, 2009 at 2:17 PM
The best I've done so far was about $80 for $16... But I do need some meats and fresh produce so I'm going to say that I could probably do about $100 worth of groceries for $30.

Wow, you had an amazing shopping trip! I'd like to think that I could get at least $100 worth of groceries by combining the sale, coupons and the gift card.

Based on what I "need" I think I could at least triple the value and get $90 worth... Probably more, but I don't have multiples of the same coupons...

Wow, the 30 GC would really help and my trip would go something like yours . I have my coupons organized to get the fruit snacks and granola clusters , pepsi, clearance meat for Hamburger helper deal, the frozen vegs, cresentrolls and biscuts, and and ole el paso stuff this would feed us for a couple weeks and I have a ton of multiple coupons so I should be able to get a good deal with my e coupons and manuf.. Thank you for all your hard work. smileyj_j@yahoo.com

I bet I could buy $50 - $60 worth of groceries with the $30 gift card by using coupons with the Mega deals.

I forgot to say how much I could save! I bet I could save around $80 - $100. For some reason, our prices seem to be a good bit higher in the upper Ohio Valley than many other areas which surprised me. Anyway, I would focus on sale items I could pair with paper coupons and ecoupons for the best bang for my buck (plus items that produce catalinas).
