coupons+site construction=giveaway
Wednesday, January 28, 2009 Hand-posted by Jennifer
I am excited to host my first giveaway! I am in the middle of a bloggy construction makeover and since the bloggy giveaway carnival is going on I thought this would be a great time to host a giveaway myself.
I have oodles of coupons and I have pulled at least 2 or more of everything I have from my binder that wasn’t close to expiring.
There are some coupons that even date until the middle of the year. There are newspaper coupon’s, blinkie’s and some unique manufacturer coupons. This will be a great prize for an experienced clipper or a newbie!
You can earn up to 5 entries for the prize:
- Leave a comment telling me how you saved money recently or how you’d like to start saving. Easy Entry for anyone – whether you blog or not
- Leave a comment telling me how to reorganize my sidebars or just about my site. I’m redesigning so I need these comments and it’s an easy entry.
- Follow me. If you are a current follower then just let me know.
- Subscribe to me. If you are a current subscriber then just let me know.
- Blog about this giveaway. I’d love for you to tell others about me. Make sure you use permalink.
Note: Leave a separate comment for each extra entry! Make sure you leave an email address for me as well.
Contest Ends Monday February 9th at 12pm EST. I will announce the winner on Feb 10 and contact you to get your mailing address. Only US residents please.

The other day I went to goodwill to drop some things off. I decided to go in and se what was up. They were running a color tag sale. I happened to find two pair of jeans, a shirt and a few other things that would have cost me $40, even there, and it only cost me about $7!!

I've recently become a couponer, and am so excited about finding great deals! My first "freebie" was 2 Hershey's chocolate bars for free by combining the Walgreens and manuf. coupons!

I love coupons! and rebates! I don't care if I have to save every receipt and send them in, I'll do it!

buying rechargeable batteries saves money in the long term and is better on the environment

I held out for a bargain for a winter dress coat and found one for $4 at a goodwill. Compared to the $99 that I'd been finding elsewhere at the lowest, I think I got a good deal. ;)

I have recently started shopping and saving at CVS.
January 29, 2009 at 12:53 PM
I always shop sales and with coupons, but this last grocery trip, I spent a few hours comparing the ads of my local Albertson's and matching them with coupons I had or trying to find some online. I ended up saving over $100, including some totally free items!
January 29, 2009 at 1:14 PM
I just commented but it said there was an error, so if you get this twice I am sorry!! It doesn't appear to have posted my original entry...
anyways, I shop manager specials and stock up on meat and milk when it is 75% off or more. We have a freezer we bought for this purpose and it has MORE than paid for itself.
January 29, 2009 at 1:15 PM
For your side bar: Make one side about you/your family/what your blog is about - all personal related stuff.
And then make the other side your ads/links/previous posts, etc.
Just an idea :)

My most recent money saving thing was my trip to Kroger. I spent $100 and saved $150 (coupons, buying on sale). If I had a deep freezer I would buy more and stock up but for now we dont have the room.
I also got a computer desk chair from CVS for free with my ECBs.

January 29, 2009 at 1:25 PM
I'm just beginning to coupon and the deal I'm most proud of was finding Jergen's Natural Glow with a free gift in the box at 1/2 off and using a $1 off coupon (which Kmart doubled) so I got it all for 99 cents!
January 29, 2009 at 1:30 PM
I've saved money recently by cleaning out the freezer and pantry. While I do a run through each week on what I have on stock and what needs to be used in the fridge, freezer and pantry, I had not done a deep cleaning in a few months. I was pleased to find more frozen berries from the summer, a container of homemade pesto that I didn't realize we still had, and more bell peppers than I thought we had left from the garden. Jackpot!

I actually go to the grocery manufacturers sites and send them an email asking them to send me coupons if they can. I tell them that they don't print off correctly via the links for on-line coupons and that the stores here won't honor them. So often, they send me coupons that will scan correctly here. Sometimes they even send me free product coupons for my trouble of trying to print the on-line ones off and having them be rejected at the store as not scanning correctly. See many stores where I live will not punch the coupon numbers in or give you the price of the coupon another way. If they don't scan, too bad. That is especially true of Walmart.

I am not super blog saavy but I have seen people use sort of a dotted vertical line to "seperate" their blog content from their buttons on their side bar. I think that might help. I participate in Once-A-Month Cooking. I get a group of friends together and we cook our dinners for a whole month in one day. It does cost a bit up front, but it saves in the long run. No more weekly trips to shop and all the impulse buys that go along with it. I also shop at several surplus stores and bargain hunt along the way.

Since our grandkids and their mom moved in with us we went from 2 to 6! We've had to come up with creative ways 2 cook, shop, save! We have the kids helping us coupon and look for bargains in the papers. they keep spreadsheets for us (they're 7-8-11) when they find a great deal in the insert they write it down-store, date of expiration, and then look for coupons to match. They learn-we save! Plus we really take advantage of the major stores (KMart-Target-WalMart) when they have clothes on sale!

How I save...
1. coupon clipping from sunday paper each week
2. load esaver coupons on my kroger card from proctor and gamble
3. load coupons from shortcuts.com to my kroger card
These loaded coupons added with paper coupons result in free products and even them paying you for the stuff!! My Kroger store triples up to 50 cents so I get incredible deals.
Thanks.

We air dry our clothes always and use cold water for laundry. My husband and I take showers together which takes us 15 min. max which is about the same amount of time for one person! We take advantage of public transportation. I make sure we unplug all electronics in our home that we are not using. And I am constantly surfing the internet for free printable coupons! Please pick me :):):)

I just did my first trip to CVS and I found a couple St. Ives body washes, 3 pantene shampoos, and 3 sunsilk items on clearance for 75% off. With my coupons I got all of them for almost free! (just had to pay 17 cents each for the sunsilk items) I'm definitely checking the clearance areas on a regular basis!

Well now we try to buy things we know we'll need a lot of over the months in bulk as BJ's (bread crumbs, sauce, pasta, Head and Shoulders, etc) and also when I buy meat in bulk I try to plan at least two dinners around it with at least one night of leftovers. I'm also hitting Big Lots a lot more often lately, since they've been getting great stuff in!

I just started CVSing and doing the Walgreen thing! It worked out so well - I got Zucol, Theraflu and other cold medication for free - just in time for my husband to come down with flu symptoms and be sick in bed for 2 days. I was so excited that I was able to get him through it for FREE!
