Weekend Website Stumbles–Apples, Apples, Apples Edition

What kind of blog reader are you? Do you browse around when you have free time looking for new stuff? 

I have a group of blogs from various niches that I’m going to start spotlighting for you each week to help draw your eyes to some new content for very little effort.

This week seems to be all about apples.  Apples are in season and you should be able to pick them up in the stores for a decent price and I found several recipes filled with apples to tempt your appetite.

Here’s a few of my favorite posts for this week:

Coupon Cookin – Nikki shared tips on how to make a No Sew Trick r’ Treat Bag.  And with apples in season she has a delish recipe on how to make easy Apple Dumplings.  Yum!  Don’t forget to look at all the recipes on her Tasty Traditions linkup including hers for Cheesy Biscuits.

Bucksome Boomer – Kay Lynn has some great job hunting tips for how to handle electronic communication while you’re trying to put your best for forward in today’s job market.  Need help how to decide if travel insurance is worth buying?  Be sure to enter her giveaway for an EatSmart Kitchen Scale. 

Eat at Home – Apple Pancakes.  I have to admit that we normally just have plain pancakes in my house but this recipe looks so easy I will have to try it soon.  And this Orange Chicken recipe looks totally yum.

The Green Backs Gal – Andrea shares some supermarket strategies for shopping at the commissary.   And yet another way to add apples into your recipes with a Fall Farmer’s Market Soup.

Crystal and Comp – Need tips on twins?  Crystal shares a lot of tips from her Twins & More board of contributors.

Weekend Website Stumbles–Checkout My Favorites

Here’s a few of my favorite posts for this week:

Crystal and Comp – I told you this girl was one of my newest favorite bloggers and Crystal whipped up a fantabulous post this week for Halloween Witchy Fingers.  All I can say is Too Cute!  Seriously, I’ve already added the ingredients to my shopping list because the kids want to take them as a snack for their entire class at school.  They’ll either be the envy or the scare of their classmates but I think it will be a hit.

Coupon Cookin – Nikki whipped up a cute batch of Pumpkin Whoopie Pies this week by experimenting in the kitchen with a cookie cutter.  This is such a cute idea and simple enough for even an inexperienced cook.  Ehem. I might also try my hand at her Pumpkin Bread with an Apple Cider Glaze recipe because it looks absolutely delicious.  Plus, all of the recipes on her Tasty Traditions linky is filled with lots of yummy recipes ideas too.

Eat at Home – Tiffany has a delicious post this week for Whole Wheat Biscuits.  Wheat actual tastes quite a bit different than white so if you’re a little intimidated by making whole wheat biscuits for the first time then start by taking baby steps.  Substitute a small portion of wheat in place of white until you’re ready to go all wheat.  Need more help in the kitchen?  Check out her Ingredient Spotlight and Weekly Menus w/grocery lists that she shares each week.

Savin Some – Brandy shared a great post last week to Get Ride of Magazine Clutter and now she’s come up with a great idea to put some of them to good with an idea how to use Magazines as a Learning Tool for your kiddos.  Brandy is not only a blogger but also a Thirty-One consultant and is currently holding an open house show with a customer special going on for the month of October. 

The Green Backs Gal – Andrea shared some great links in her Top Ten Tuesday with tips on how to save money on Breast Cancer Fighting Foods.    

Bucksome Boomer – Kay Lynn shared a wonderful post this week with 7 ways to conserve water at home.

Crystal and Comp – Crystal has to be one of my newest favorite bloggers.  She has awesome crafty skills.  Her tutorial post on Ghost Halloween Treats is absolutely adorable and looks easy enough for even me to make.  And her post about Festive Fall Art for Kids is ingenious for decorating for fall.  You could even use this idea to paint a Pumpkin instead of carving a traditional one.

Eat at Home – Tiffany’s site is filled with delicious recipes and more that look delicious.  I’m a picky eater and I think I might want to try her Ham and Potato Chowder recipe soon and I hadn’t even thought about tossing potatoes into a slow cooker before to simplify things.  Need help in the kitchen?  Check out her Ingredient Spotlight and Weekly Menus w/grocery lists that she shares each week.

Coupon Cookin – Fall is Nikki’s favorite season and she has plans to share lots of Frugal Festivities with you in her new weekly series from frugal recipes to DIY decorations.  This week she shared a recipe for Candy Corn Popcorn Balls that looks pretty simple to make.  Plus, checkout her Tasty Traditions linky each week for lots of yummy recipes ideas.

The Green Backs Gal – It’s all about the Green.  Andrea shares some great budgeting tips this week focusing on Budgeting & Supermarket Strategies.  My favorite was the post she pulled together with 10 FREE Halloween Downloads that you’ll want to take advantage of.

Savin Some – Brandy has lot of frugal living tips and ideas and you’ll want to checkout her most recent post on how to Get Ride of Magazine Clutter.  Brandy is not only a blogger but also a Thirty-One consultant and is currently holding an open house show with a customer special going on for the month of October.
