Organized Closet ~ When I look at this picture…

Sunday, August 30, 2009 Hand-posted by Jennifer

…I don’t think about the shelf holding those cute green boxes that were “added”  for space.

When I look at this picture I think

   1. Wow, I wish mine was that big.

   2. Look, I can actually see the floor.

   3. OMG, a vacuum was actually used.

   4. Who hangs their purses? I only have one.

   5. Ohhhhhhh, at the stockpile opportunities.

   6. And, how much fun my kids could have in there!  Cause it’s fun as a kid to sit in a closet, with the lights out and tell ghost stories with a flashlight ya know.  Yeah, so this is actually what ran through my mind when I saw this picture.

But, back to the shelf.  We added shelves to our laundry room for extra space and I love it!  It has helped tremendously with our stockpile storage.  Being that the laundry room was small to begin with (probably smaller than this closet) I was afraid that the added shelves would make it feel even smaller but they don’t.  I am very happy with my shelves that were added for storage space and encourage you to look for ways to expand on your storage too.

A $20 Housewarming Gift Basket worth $200

Saturday, June 20, 2009 Hand-posted by Jennifer

 imageMy husband and I are attending a wedding today and I was able to use my stockpile to create a gift basket.  The bridge/groom will be moving into a new house so the basket has a huge mix of things.

I made a quick run to CVS & Walgreens to pickup the Clorox and Purex as splurge items for the basket and I also bought a new clothes basket to put everything in so that it would be sturdy and reusable.

I wrote down the approximate retail value and the cost of what I paid for the item as I placed everything in the basket.  When I was finally able to shove everything in the basket I tallied up the totals of the two columns.

* ~ * ~ * The retail value of the basket is $200 and I only paid $20 for the entire thing!  * ~ * ~ *

How did I do this for only $20??  A good majority of the items were purchased using the reward programs at CVS & Walgreens to get the item free after Extra Care Bucks or Register Rewards.  I also took advantage of $10 off $50 or $5 off $25 coupons to maximize my savings on certain purchases when they were available.

I was recently able to raid my stockpile to provide for a very nice family who was in need.  I wanted to share pictures of what made this possible for me.  Enjoy!

The Coupon Diva sure doesn't. Check out her stockpile picture of Electrosol. I can't say anything. My Cottonelle stockpile is just as large, LOL!
