Kelloggs Savings Booklets

Tuesday, September 01, 2009 Hand-posted by Jennifer

Kelloggs Coupon bookletI absolutely love finding coupon booklets in the store and an awesome Kellogg’s Booklet has been spotted at Food City!

I searched high and low for it this weekend but couldn’t find it myself.

Email from Honey (a local reader):

I found the Kellogg’s Savings Booklets a few days ago at Food City on Chapman. They are very similar to last year’s version. Most of them have savings on other items when you buy Kellogg’s items.

For instance save $2 on milk wyb 2 Keebler cookies. Or save $2 on Fruit wyb 2 waffles. Combined with a sale or Catalina deal and provided you needed the other item they could be good coupons.

Plus, she gave a great tip:  If you haven’t purchased any items for the Fuel for School Rebate then you may want to be on the lookout for these coupons because they would pair up nicely.  She was able to use this booklet last year when the Fuel for School campaign was running.  Awesome score Honey!

Quick Reader Tip: Check your junk mail…

Wednesday, July 01, 2009 Hand-posted by Jennifer

Julie wrote in to tell us her coupon discovery in her mailbox:

I hope you’re not tossing those little weekly mailers we get around here (the ones that usually have Papa Johns or Pizza Hut on the front and then random other fast food/pizza or generic business ads inside).

A couple weeks ago I got one that had 2 coupons in it for toothpaste and something else… but this week’s had at least a half dozen coupons including some very high-$ coups (Buy 5 Lean Cuisines, get $3 off – it’s usually only $1 off 4 or 5). I wonder if this is a new venue the manufacturers are looking into b/c they figure that most people throw those mailers away as junk; and much of it usually is.

Anyways, just a quick tip!

Julie (Knoxville)

I’ve been using these coupons for quite awhile and have about 6 neighbors that donate theirs to me.

Quick Tip about the order E-Coupons are applied

Sunday, June 07, 2009 Hand-posted by Jennifer

Have you ever wondered the logic behind how E-Coupons apply to the product they’re intended for?

Let’s look at an example where both of these coupons are for the exact same product:

  • $1/1 shortcuts.com e-coupon which you loaded to your card two days ago and it expires tomorrow
  • $1/2 cellfire.com e-coupon which you loaded to your card a week ago and it expires in two weeks

It’s a bummer that with the way e-coupons work you aren’t able to choose which one is applied because in this example I would choose the one that expires tomorrow which is also for a higher value.  Wouldn’t you?  But the way the register is programmed, it won’t.  It will choose the second one based on it’s programming.  Why?  The registers are programmed to apply the coupons based on the order you load them to your card.

I just wanted to give you some details of a conversation I had this week with Kroger Corp. Web IT nice guy Greg.  This month there are the three different downloadable Yoplait Yogurt coupons from three different sources.  Cellfire .50/6, Shortcuts .40/6 and Hope for Table $1/10.  I asked him if all were loaded on our card, which would come off first if we were only buying 6.  He said the one we downloaded first would come off first.

Thanks for the awesome tip Tamara!

Do You Always Check the Clearance Rack in the Store?

Saturday, May 30, 2009 Hand-posted by Jennifer

Alot of stores even has designated clearance areas to make things easier for you to locate & shop through.  Do you even notice the rack or do you simply pass on by?  You never know what you’ll find so when you go.

Want to know what a reader found recently?  Check out what Honey found in Knoxville just yesterday:

I found the Earthbound Farms organic dried plums and organic raisins on the sale rack at Kroger for $1.59 and $1.29 respectively. I had a $1/2 coupon which I think was from a Kroger mailer. Even without the coupon it’s a great deal! Raisins were very fresh! And they also had a lot of picnic supplies on clearance.

That’s a pretty awesome savings!  And for Organic at that!  So, remember to be checking the clearance spot!

Random act of kindness in the store

Wednesday, May 13, 2009 Hand-posted by Jennifer

I’m sure you’ve noticed the blinking Smart Source coupon dispensers in the store, right?  And I’m sure you’ve noticed coupons sometimes lying on or around a product, right?  The ones left by a “Coupon Fairy” which is destined to either be a)thrown away by a non-couponing careless store employee or b)used by someone shopping to help save them money.  Well, it sure is nice to know when the latter is what happens.

I have a reader who would like to share her recent shopping experience where she encountered the random act of kindness left by a Coupon Fairy.  Enjoy!

This has been on my mind and wanted to share:

The last time I was at the store I encountered a random act of coupon kindness. I was wheeling around the aisles at my Kroger and passed the pet aisle; we have 3 kitties and while Petsmart is my normal best bet for sizes I need (vs price) I check my grocery b/c sometimes I luck out on smaller boxes/bags being on sale.

There on the top shelf tucked under a box of Tidy Cats was a stack of $1 off coupons (printables). I didn't think much of it except, "How nice/convenient!" We needed litter, the box was a good price with the coupon, so I snagged one. I tucked the remaining coupons back under another box; I'm not greedy.

What's funny is that over the rest of my trip, I found at least 7-8 more items like this (who knows how many more that I didn't find them)! Just the item on the shelf as normal, but with a small stack of coupons clearly cut out by someone and precisely placed beneath a front package, slightly sticking out.

Now, doing such a thing is potentially pointless. You never know if a store clerk will come by and just trash them or if one greedy person will take the lot. But how genuinely NICE of someone to take the time to put all those coupons there just in case someone else could use them, whether they were a couponer or not...

Thanks Julie!  It’s nice to know that the “coupon fairies” are appreciated!

Anyone in the need for new Calphalon Cookware?  A reader alerted me to the following deal.  Thanks Gabe!

Here is the info from page 13 of Kiwi magazine:

“Keep your old pots and pans out of a landfill with the help of Calphalon’s  ReNew program.  After purchasing a new set of cookware from Calphalon Kitchen Outlet store (find one near  you at caphalonrenew.com ), simply put your worn-out cookware (no matter the brand or condition) into the box that the new Calphalon set came in, then ship it to the company using one of its prepaid mailing labels, available when you sign up for the program online.  The company will send your used cookware to a recycling center, and you’ll receive a free Calphalon colander just for showing your love to the planet.”
