Saturday, October 09, 2010 Hand-posted by Jennifer
If you live in the Knoxville, TN area, have you heard about the KnoxMoms.com website? If you’re looking for affordable things to do with your kids or for a local place to connect with other families then you might want to checkout KnoxMoms.com.
What is KnoxMoms.com? It’s a forum that launched in 2007 to fill a need for families in East Tennessee (we're all too busy to read the newspaper every day let alone watch the nightly news in peace!). Their idea was that they would provide a forum for moms to give helpful advice and support to other moms in the area. And they’ve been fortunate over the last 3 years to have lots of different moms with children of all ages turn to KnoxMoms.com as a resource.
Here’s a quick list of the forum benefits:
- FIND THINGS TO DO – Their datebook is full of family-friendly activities.
- SIGN UP FOR THEIR WEEKLY E-NEWSLETTER full of exclusive deals, contest news, hot topics and their pick of things to do.
- TALK TO OTHER MOMS - Join their parent community and make friends, upload photos and videos, start discussions and more.
- SAVE SOME DOUGH – Download coupons, sell old baby stuff and plan your weekly menu with their recipe database in their momshop community
KnoxMoms.com is filled with lots of LOCAL information you can’t get anywhere else thanks to the local moms who support the community. Stop by and check it out.

Knox News article: Coupon Fair goers swap & talk shop

Checkout an article called “Coupon Fair goers swap & talk shop” in yesterday’s Knoxville News Sentinel where my good friend Nancy Twigg highlights the Knoxville Coupon Fair from last month.
You can also checkout a video on KnoxNews.com where I talk about my Coupon Binder & Quick Tips on organizing coupons. *I didn’t realize I was being videoed for publication. Nancy was using her regular camera and I thought it was just her easy way to take notes in such a busy environment hence why I’m not looking at the camera and all. So, note to self, smile when you’re on camera next time!*

The Knoxville Coupon Fair IS RESCHEDULED for Feb 27th!
Here is a post from Gabrielle’s website:
I just spoke with my friend Julya Johnson (meteorologist/weather guru). She said that the weather will definitely be bad. Both she and my husband who works in Campbell County said that it is already snowing there and starting to lay on the roads. Unfortunately we’ll be rescheduling the coupon fair.
Our reschedule date is Saturday, February 27th from 9am-12n. Almost all of the booth representatives are still planning on being present for the fair, so you’re still in for a treat on the reschedule date. Please mark your calendars and plan on attending the fair on the 27th. We look forward to seeing you then! Please contact me at couponingincriticaltimes@gmail.com if you have any questions

Here’s an awesome site that I thought I’d mention again for the Blount/Knox county locals!
I’ve raved about Restaurant.com for awhile now for the cheap gift certificates that you can buy but I just found out about another website where you can snag local coupons for more than just restaurants.
It’s called East Tennessee Rewards and they’ve teamed up with alot of local businesses to help bring big savings to you for quite a few things from Auto Repairs and Computers to Hobbies, Photos and more.
Stop by their site by going to EastTennesseeRewards.com and browsing around a little to see what’s there. It may take a little bit of getting used to navigating the site but you’ll be quite amazed if you just keep poking around because there is quite a bit of stuff that you’ll stumble across. So, why not check them out!
Free Children’s Events: Knoxville Symphony Orchestra

Thanks to Coupon Katie for this local information about the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra:
String quartets from the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra will travel to local libraries during the month of November to read stories and play music for pre-school aged children as part of the orchestra’s Story Time Program. The theme for this season’s program is Shall We Dance? Musicians will read books that introduce string instruments (I Know A Shy Fellow Who Swallowed A Cello) and explore the different types of dance (Giraffes Can’t Dance), as well as do the Hokey-Pokey. These performances will prepare children for the KSO’s Family Concert on November 22 featuring the Knoxville Symphony Orchestra and animated character Picardy Penguin.
Below is a list of the dates, times and locations of the performances, or you can click here:

If you are interested in the KSO Family Concert it will be held Sunday, November 22 at 2:00 PM at the Tennessee Theatre. Tickets are $12 and $15 each (but there is a buy one get one free coupon in the school coupon books).
The concert is entitled Shall We Dance? and explores various types of dance music. Picardy Penguin, an animated penguin that appears on a screen above the orchestra, serves at the children’s guide to classical music. This concert is suited for children ages 3-8 years old.
