Woohoo!! I almost fell out of my seat when I saw this Star Wars House Party pop up. I have two boys and Star Wars is one of their top favs when it comes to movies & games. Even my daughter has a Light Saber sword to get in on the action when they act out scenes in the living room along with their Star Wars Clone Wars Captain Rex Helmets. It’s so amazing to watch them use their imagination.

What appeals to me about this party? The Pyrex
I know that my guests wouldn’t return home quite as impressed about eating Kraft Mac & Cheese out of my pink plastic summer clearance serving bowl in comparison to eating it out of a glass Pyrex baking dish. Just not the same experience. Same taste but the consumer’s brain just won’t preserve the memory quite so “tastefully”.

As a host, House Party provided my family with an amazing party package and it was jam packed full of goodies. It was filled with two PlayStation Move Motion Controller, a PlayStation Move Eye camera, a game demo disc, and several party favors (including PS Move branded Frisbees, Party Pins, Napkins, VIP bracelets, Can Grips).

The box was filled to impress and we definitely wanted to put it to the test. A few of the things that amazed my family as we tested out the new equipment was how precise that it was.
The PS Move game system uses the controller and the camera to track movement and it is spot on and captures everything. Plus, my children loved the way that they can see themselves on the screen. Nothing like being a movie star in your own game.
After testing it out with my family the Party Day had finally arrived. Wahoo!

Several of our friends and neighbors showed up with their families to enjoy the party and checkout the new Playstation Move I had been telling them about. Excitement brimmed out of all of the kids while watching the demo disc and they all couldn’t wait for their turn to get their hands on the game.
Several entertainment hours later the crowd had watched, played and enjoyed practically all of the demo games. And there was alot of chitter chatter made about the actual Move system.
“I was very impressed with the graphics and precise movements.”
“I loved how if I twisted the remote that it also moved in the game too”
“I really liked how I could see myself on the tv screen. That was cool!”

A lot of small towns have had fireworks cut from their budgets. Irvington, NY did which is the hometown of House Party. I just got a message from House Party about an event they are throwing tonight!!!
I absolutely LOVE House Party and if you haven't had the chance to host or attend a House Party then now is your chance to do just that.

My House Party: McDonald’s & Shrek End Of School Bash

I discovered House Party quite some time ago when I read about it on another blog. I try to share the latest House Party updates with you and absolutely love the whole concept of House Party itself. Since learning about it I have applied to a several parties, been invited to a couple and have had the honor of being selected as a host a couple of times! I was recently invited to host a McDonald’s & Shrek House Party…

I wasn’t the only one overwhelmed with excitement about this House Party from the get-go, the kids were too. The party coincided with the end of the school year and the time that Papaw’s pool officially opens for the summer. As soon as I was chosen to be a host I started phoning all my friends with children. LOL, I was as giddy as all the school kids that were bubbling with excitement.
Time went by and the week before the party and…”the package” arrived.
Getting that package was the highlight of my week. I ripped it open and shuffled through all the things like a child at a birthday party. As a host, House Party provided me with an amazing party pack including a Shrek the Third DVD, a $75 gift card to McDonald’s to purchase the food, two packs of party plates, cups, napkins, invitations, oodles of Shrek toys, a movie poster and cute happy meal boxes. I mean, this box was loaded!
Another week went by after getting the package and…”It’s the Party Day”!
I was lucky that one of the McDonald’s nearby sold 50 piece nuggets for only $10! So, 150 nuggets and 16+ fries later I still had enough gift card moula left to buy each guest their own Shrek glass from McDonald’s!
Getting ready for the party was a blast. We threw the kids outside with some of the downloadable Shrek games and coloring stuff to keep them occupied. The smell of McDonald’s and the thrill of the party didn’t keep them outside long. When the table was ready the munchkins piled in the door for their chance to finally see what had been taking place inside. It was finally PARTY TIME!
Each kid grabbed some food, a goody box and headed back out the door for a picnic. Parents stood around listening to the chatter of the kids gabbing back and forth. “What toy did you get?” “I got Donkey” “Oh, I wanted Shrek” “You gonna get the movie?” “Yea, I want to get it too!” “Which cup did you get?” yada yada yak yak.
Did you hear that? “The Sound of House Party Success”!
Seriously! The whole idea of House Party is for a host to be selected and successfully throw a party while marketing the “package” they received. Now, while it wasn’t too hard for me to sell Shrek let alone McDonald’s to a party full of kids do you know what else happened? Every one of my guests that left the party with the Shrek glass I bought also went home and purchased the remaining glasses so they’d have a whole “set” of Shrek glassware. Score for McDonald’s! Score for House Party!
Click on the album above to enjoy some of the pictures from the party. You can see part of the kids but alot of the guests were camera shy… Something about the pool and bathing suits. Anywho, the main focus of the party was the kids and you can tell from the pictures because there are hardly any adults in the shots. I promise there were several of us in the background.

Lost Art of Canning: Strawberry Jam Tutorial

My wonderful friend Gabrielle posted a great step-by-step tutorial for canning Strawberry Jam that you should checkout. She throws in alot of helpful comments about this-or-that tricks she has picked up from experience. Stop over and Check it out.
As a little girl I can remember the wonderful canned tomatoes that my Granny would can each year. She would stir them up with elbow macaroni and I was one happy little girl. I miss her canned tomatoes. Since her death my family really hasn’t canned that much and one of my goals this year was to expand my garden and start canning more of what it produces.
Now, remember the Ball Fresh Taste of Summer House Party I mentioned back in March? They should be announcing the finalists soon. I can’t wait to hear! 
I love the concept of this particular House Party because it goes beyond just marketing a wonderful product to your friends because it helps you & your friends learn how to carry on a tradition of the past.
Gabrielle pointed out in her post that “Canning is becoming a lost art” and it’s true. Many people might try to say that they don’t can because they may not have a garden. And…? Ever think of canning some of those fruits and vegetables from the grocery store or famers market when you find them at rock bottom prices? Well, why not? Point being, you don’t have to have a garden to can...just a kitchen. Nuf said.
I really hope you head over to checkout Gabrielle’s tutorial about How to make Strawberry Jam and give your hand a try with canning this summer. Like I said, it’s one of my goals and I’m looking forward to carrying on a tradition of the past with my friends!
