I was flipping through the news sentinnel last week and came across the article about couponing and I just wanted you to know that I have been inspired. I never thought that coupons could actually save so much money. I have recently tried a couple of "experiments" at various walgreens. On my first trip I bought the bayer crystals that were 2.49 and used the $1 off coupon they conveniently had sitting next to them. I paid $1.79 with tax and it printed a RR for 2.50 off my next purchase. I was thrilled and determined to play this coupon game from here on out. This morning however I didn't have quite as good of an experience. To make a long story short I tried to pay for the crest toothpaste that is supposed to print out the RR for its purchase price with the RR I had received on my previous trip. Nothing happened. I asked the cashier if I was supposed to get a RR and he called his manager over who had to void my purchase and try to run it through several times before finally giving up and modifying the purchase price and giving me the toothpaste for free (I had to pay tax though). He gave me back my RR that I had tried to pay with (so I didn't come out too bad...I got free toothpaste and i still have my previous RR)but he told me that it won't print out an RR if you pay with one. Is that true? I thought the whole idea was to roll them and use one discount to pay for the next? Thanks for the inspiration and I'll keep trying.
