To Complain or to Compliment? …That is the Question.

Wednesday, June 17, 2009 Hand-posted by Jennifer

Half empty or half full?  Quick to complain or quick to compliment?  What kind of person are you?

Kisha at More Than a Little made a challenge last week for her readers and I’m curious too.  Do you show your appreciation to store employees or just complain about things when something goes wrong?  I’ve talked about showing your appreciation before and think it is a wonderful point to bring up again.

How do you greet others while you’re shopping?  What kind of impression do you leave with your cashier?

Funny you should mention this! Just the other day I was at Best Buy getting my computer fixed. The staff was wonderful in every way and I wanted to let the manager know. You should have seen the looks on their faces when I asked to speak to the manager. I felt sorry for them. After I gave my little speech to the manager how nice and helpful his staff is a huge smile swept his face. He was so proud of his employees and thanked me for letting him know because most of the time people only want to see the manager to complain. I know it made a huge impression on my children because it's all they talked about all the way home in the truck! :) More people need to compliment!! Do it.. it makes everyone feel great!!!

It's strange that more people don't show their appreciation because doing it makes you feel so good. It's such a win-win situation! :)

Having said that, I don't do it as often as I think I should. I try, though! I guess that's all anyone can ask for. :)

I always show my appreciation for good customer service... its so hard to find these days that when someone is kind and helpful to me in a store, I go to the manager right then and there and praise that employee, and if they have a website, I email corporate on how great the trip was because of said employee.... I think its only fair, we take the time to fuss if they do something wrong, we need to praise and thank when they get it right!!
